Small Business Improvement Grant
The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) is offering grant funding to help small businesses and nonprofits offset the cost of building improvements and essential equipment purchases. The Small Business Improvement Grant is designed to support interior and exterior upgrades that enhance operations, customer experience, and long-term growth.

Eligible expenses include:

Interior and/or exterior building improvements

Purchase and installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E)
Key details:

Costs must have been paid within 2 years prior to applying

Home-based businesses are only eligible for reimbursement for new FF&E purchases

Minimum eligible project cost: $5,000 (may include one or more projects)

Maximum grant award: $50,000 (covers up to 50% of $100,000)

Landlord approval is required if the business leases its space
Facility commitment requirements:

For grants under $25,000, recipients must remain in the facility for at least 2 years

For grants $25,000 or more, recipients must remain for at least 4 years

Small Business Lease Grant
The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) has launched a new grant program to support businesses and nonprofits that have recently signed a lease for new or expanded space. The program provides funding to offset a portion of lease payments, helping organizations grow while easing financial pressure.

Key details include:

Eligible applicants must have signed a new lease or an amended lease within 12 months prior to applying.

Leases must be for at least 5 years and must include street-level commercial, office, or retail space.

The leased space must be between 250 and 10,000 square feet, and if expanding, the new space must be at least 250 square feet larger than the previous location.

Landlords cannot have any ownership interest in the applying business or nonprofit.
Grant structure:

The first payment (20% of the award) is issued after the grant agreement is executed.

The second payment (another 20%) is issued after 12 months of lease payments are verified.
This program is designed to help small businesses and nonprofits scale their operations and contribute to the vibrancy of New Jersey’s downtowns and commercial corridors.

Mayor Mayer is excited to announce a launch of a new resource for small businesses in Gloucester Township - Gloucester Township Small Business Assistance Program Educational Series. The series feature several videos that will consist of two parts: an interview with an elected official and an education part designed to help businesses with marketing techniques as well as other important information.
